Honduras Mission Trip Testimonies

The team had no idea that they would see the things that they saw on this mission trip. Jesus said go and I will be with you always even to the ends of the earth. It started at the beginning of the flight; as they were traveling from Houston to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Hannah Bass received the word of knowledge for one airline flight attendant. As the flight attendant was serving, Hannah asked as she passed by their seat, "Ma'am do you have hip pains?" She looks at Hannah in disbelief wondering, "How does she know?" She answered, "Yes I do!" Hannah says, "Ma'am, may I pray for you?" The flight attendant was okay with Hannah praying for her. She stopped the cart and Hannah prayed for the flight attendant right there in the aisle. She was so moved by this she wanted to buy Hannah's lunch that day on the aircraft.

Leaving a Wake

Leaving a Wake

I was sitting, visiting with my pastor, Brother Charles Simpson sometime back. We were talking about different issues that affected our local fellowship. Brother Charles told me this story which happened many years ago. He had purchased a boat, quite large, which was located in Florida. In order to get the boat from Florida to Mobile Bay he hired a pilot who brought the boat along the intercostal canal. At one point; he asked the pilot, why are you going so slowly? The pilot answered as we move forward, we are causing a wake and I am responsible for the wake that I cause. If I travel too fast it could cause a large wake; I can be sued for the damage I cause.

Later as I pondered the story, it reminded me of the fact that whatever we do in life we cause a wake that affects the lives of others. Sometime this is good, and sometimes it is bad. In recent days as I have rethought this story my view of it has completely changed. Now it is, "How fast are we moving?" Are we causing a stumbling block for others to turn back? Paul writing to Titus said, "Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, always to be gentle toward everyone. (Titus 3:1 & 2)

This statement is one from Bill Johnson, Bethel Church in Redding California. Kingdom Culture is transferable into any venue. It is acceptable! Jesus is the desire of the nations. There is an inbuilt hunger in everyone for King Jesus. The Holy Spirit in us will make the Kingdom of God palatable to everyone if we can keep our egos contained. There are some religions in our society that are trying to impose their religion on everyone; they are leaving a trail of death everywhere. You convert, or you die! Is this presenting their kingdom of god to others in a way that is acceptable to the hearts? Or is it leaving a wake of fear and intimidation. You may say, this is absurd, I am not doing this!

Remember, we are to present the Kingdom of God in peace where it is acceptable to others because they have a longing for Jesus. We are not to present it in a way that causes a dangerous wake.

Good morning Pastor,
You requested I share a testimony with you that took place last week.
I received a notification that there was a shooting at an Apartment in Monroe Louisiana. I drove out to meet with some of the staff out there to minister to them.  One of the staff that I ministered to was struggling to rest at night after witnessing the aftermath of the shooting. So I was allowed to minister to this particular staff person.
Later a female resident walked up asking for ministry. She had also dealt with the aftermath of the shooting. However, as I began to minister to her she made me aware of a recent News story that aired that week. There had been three men charged with sex trafficking. She mentioned to me that two of those three men who had been charged with sex trafficking had trafficked her. So I was given the opportunity to minister to her and she was very receptive to this ministry.
The next resident had been grazed by a bullet during the shooting. She had actually watched the man struggle for his life after being shot and was having to live with those last moments of hearing him struggle for his life. I prayed with her to receive healing from the trauma and then led her to profess Christ as Savior along with her son and boyfriend.
Please continue to pray for these individuals and any others yet to receive ministry.
Whit Bass

Mei Powers Testimony

This is Mei's testimony from New Orleans.

Monday, May 23, 2016: We went to the immigration office in downtown New Orleans for my citizenship interview. It is a very serious place and you have to go through security to get in. Then I got a call for my interview, I entered the interview room; I was nervous because it was a serious place and it had a cold feel about it. I had to swear to tell the truth at the beginning of the interview and the interview began. I was sitting there answering the history and civic questions when suddenly I felt my lower back was in pain and my ear a bit trouble. Then I realized that this lady must have these problems. I waited for her to finish the interview and then I asked her whether she had these problems. She asked me why I asked.  I told her that I sometimes feel pain of others when I’m around them.  She said in fact, I have pain right now.  I asked her “would you mind if I pray for you."  She said, "Yes, I have been asking God to heal me for the last two weeks."  At this point, I could see the tears in her eyes and the change on her face and attitude towards me. She was no longer serious and cold. She became more friendly and happy because the Lord entered the room.  After praying, she hugged me and said thanks for praying.  She also met my husband in the waiting room and thanked him also. When I met her again on Friday May 26, 2019 at my swearing in ceremony, she smiled at me and told me since I prayed for her; she has felt better.

Mei Powers,

Thursday, June 16, 2016: Testimony by James Morris

On Father's Day weekend James had gone to his hometown, Forest Hill. As he was going down a girl from his high school days came into his heart and he believed that the Lord had given him a word or her. When he got to Forest Hill he joined up with his good friend Joe. Joe is on fire right now for the Lord, so they had to go on an adventure together. He had told Joe before arriving that God had put something on his heart and for Joe to begin praying for that to come to pass. James was nervous about going but he knew he had too! Her parents owned a bate stand and a restaurant. Joe is excited and full of boldness; walks into the bate stand and hollers out, "Jesus loves ever body." these were all Hispanic people. The girl's husband asked them, "How much of you been drinking." he directed them to the restaurant where she was. They had not seen her in years. James and Joe were the bad kids in high school at that time and this girl was a straight "A" student. Joe started out pouring out God's love on her, she starts crying because the Lord had sent them there. The lord had put it on James's heart to tell she felt unappreciated, unloved, and invisible. Her dad had just moved in with her and she was taking care of him. She was raised Catholic her whole life. They told her that God loved her so much that he had sent them there to share the gospel. They prayed with her three times, and they were the second group of people that had come there to share with her. James and Joe left the restaurant on a spiritual high, rejoicing in the Lord.

Testimony be James Morris

Thursday, June 16, 2016: A testimony by James Morris: He felt that Lord wanted him to go to the Bawcomville laundromat to witness; he called Tim Smith join him. As soon as they got there; three Hispanic guys were standing in front; they had mean looking faces. One had tattoos on his face; it looked like a hard crowd, so James went to the meanest looking one first. As I began to talk; Omar came from California to help take care of his girlfriend's dad who had broken his neck and was bedridden. James and Omar had a similar background they began to share with one another. James shared with him what the Lord had done in his life. James and Tim had an opportunity to pray for our Omar.

On the inside of a laundromat, they met a man and a woman that was homeless. They asked the man what his situation was. The man answered back, "You have no clue what we've been through." Tim answered back, "Try us." they began to share the gospel with them.

A lady came in the door and asked if someone could jump off her car. Her name was Miss. Sally. James asked if he could pray with her after the car started; while doing this James felt a need to pour out God's love on her. He told Miss. Sally that God saw her as a daughter. She did have self-worth. She began to weep as the Holy Spirit came upon her. She had been in an abusive relationship with a guy and he had crushed her vocal cord. James got her telephone number and is trying to get her plug-in with some ladies in the fellowship. It was a good evening.

Hospital Visit

4/1/2021

Gary lively, James Morris and Cliff Bouwel went to St. Francis hospital to pray for people (Ps. 103:2-5, Mk. 16:15).  James Morris felt an impression from the Holy Spirit (Jn. 10:27, Jn. 16:13)) that we should start on floor 2 and room number in the teens.  Also, he had an impression for a woman named Kathy (Jn. 10:27, Jn. 16:13).  We started with a prayer in the lobby and went straight to the first waiting room on the second floor.  There was 6 or 7 people in the waiting room together.  One of the women was on the phone talking.  We walk up and before we could ask to pray with them the girl on the phone said "is it three of them??  They are here right now".  We were not sure what was going on but the Holy Spirit already had this divine moment setup.  The lady was actually talking to Stephanie, James's girlfriend.  Come to find out that she and Stephanie knew each other unknowingly to James.  She began to explain to us that her mom was there for surgery and it was scheduled for 7 am but they had postponed it until 5pm.  We arrived there at 6:15pm.  We explained that we were followers of Jesus Christ and that we were there to spread the love of Christ, pray for healing and let the Holy Spirit guide our every move. They were astonished, excited and comforted.  We were blown away also.  We gathered in a circle and began to thank the Holy Spirit and praise Jesus which led to praying.  After some wonderful prayers for them; her mother also prayed for us.

After that amazing moment in the waiting room; we went to the elevator not knowing where to go; stepping out in faith Gary lively said floor 7. So, we went up and got off elevator and went to the ICU waiting room.  There were roughly 25 people from different families, churches, ethnic back grounds, religion and age groups.  We decided that we would get in the center of the room and ask if anyone wanted or needed prayer.  One lady came straight to us asking for prayer.  As we began to speak to her everyone in the room surround us in a circle; no one was sitting down. We began to thank Jesus.  One lady asked, can we all hold hands and we did with no complaints.  We began to pray; after we prayed two of the ladies in the group prayed.  One lady prayed a power prayer and began to speak in tongues (Jude vs 20, Eph. 6:18, 1 Cor. 14:4, 1 Cor. 12).  The whole room at that point was in full worship and praise.  After all of that the group broke up and the woman who prayed in tongues began to speak life and prophesy over James (Rom 12:8).  A Baptist preacher from oak grove came up and spoke to Gary about how thankful he was for us and that he also believed in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We left there and started walking the halls praying.  We came up to a room where an older gentleman was sitting with his door open and eyes closed. We could hear him saying something from the hallway and when we got closer to him; he was talking to himself about Jesus. He was blind and could not see us.  We asked him, "Can we pray for you," and he said certainly we could.  We prayed for a renewing of his spirit and healing of his eyes (Ps. 146:8).  After praying we went to leave and he said that he was having issues with lust.  We immediately asked him could we pray for him again.  We prayed against the spirit of lust (Gal. 5:16, Matt. 5:28).  He broke and began to weep!  He said he knew that the Holy Spirit was in the room when we began to pray in tongues.  Before leaving Gary picked up a binder in front of the man and opened it and it was full of CD's of the bible. We left there on a spiritual high.

We went to another room which was 7017.  The door was cracked open so we knocked and the man said we could come in.  We went in and told him we wanted to pray for him and his wife which was in the hospital because of a stroke. She was asleep. We prayed healing for his legs and her full recovery of the stroke. After praying we left out of the room in search of another victim for Christ but as we went down the hall the nurse in the hall told us that we could not just go into rooms to pray for people we did not know.  We took this as the Holy Spirit saying, it time to moving on, so we followed his lead. We ended up at project 41 with Whit Bass teaching and preaching.  Left there to go pray with another family with two kids that have a blood disorder and doctors said was incurable. We prayed for both children and the family.  They were deeply touched by the Holy Spirit. We believe that they were healed by the Holy Spirit.  We left there around 10:30 PM.  Before leaving one of the young guys that had gone with us wanted prayer from Whit Bass for some things that were happening in his life.  He was deeply touched by the Holy Spirit.
