“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Cor 5:20) I recently was asked by a lady to pray for her mom who was in poor health and in a wheelchair. In discussion with the mom, I quickly picked up on her Catholicism faith, and I also picked up a faint impression that this woman’s condition was correlated with her unforgiveness towards someone. The Lord’s Prayer then came to mind, and I thought that this would be a mutual opening to (1) share something that she could relate to and (2) open the door for the entry of God’s Word and ministry. When reciting the Lord’s Prayer with her, I stopped at the part where it says, “and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” When asking her if she might be harboring any unforgiveness, she said yes…towards her ex-husband, and angrily said, “and I will NEVER forgive him!!” It was at this point that I shared with her about what God’s Word said about unforgiveness, and I appealed to her to be reconciled to God by forgiving those who trespass against us. She again said, “I will never forgive him.” A month later, I received a text through a mutual friend. In the text, it said, “Miss Mary wanted me to let you know that she has finally forgiven!” This text message made my day….Praise God! In Christ, Andy Magee This morning I received a call from Ryan Soland with whom I have not heard
from for two years. He had some exciting news to convey to me. A year or so back he had a man working for him named Rex who was an alcoholic and become suicidal. Rex reached out to Ryan for help and on December 4, 2012 Ryan led him to the Lord. Ryan remembered that I had discipled him so he began to disciple Rex. This relationship is going well, he sends him devotions on a daily basis, visits with him and prays for Rex. He finds joy in helping his friend. I attended a home meeting at Neil and Mei Power's this evening. I met a young
man by the name of Torrey. As I listen to him talk; my heart went out to him. Torrey's father left him when he was two years old. He is now 36 and has not seen or heard from his father. He talked about the anger he has toward his father. He had sent him a two-page letter wanting his father to have a relationship with him. He didn't need his father's money; only his love. The father has gotten the letter, but has refused to get back in contact with him. As he talked, I could feel the rejection that must be going on in his life. After the meeting, I sat and talk with him about the situation. He is an assistant manager at Brookshire's. He has never had a relationship with a woman and deep down, this is a desire also. Torrey is a Christian that loves the Lord and was raised by a Christian mother and grandmother. To hear him pray I can tell that he had a relationship with the Lord Jesus. He gave me his phone number; so that I to contact him and have lunch. He also plans to come to the "Mounting Up in the Spirit" meeting on March 14th. Brother John, (my personal pastor) as I was thinking of this young man, a desire to help him overwhelmed me. More is going on in the area of discipling men than I can handle. I need others with the same vision to help. This morning in the church service a lady with her teenage son came and
set in front of Ginger and I whom I had never seen before. As the service was going on I felt that the Holy Spirit wanted me to pray for her. At the end of the service I noticed that she was weeping; as the service was dismissed I asked the lady if I could pray for her. She introduced herself and her son to Ginger and I, and afterward I prayed for her and I believe she was touched by the Holy Spirit. Later that morning and the life group Rick Hixon with whom I had prayed for the Sunday before and prophesied over about a new job announced that he starts this new job the next day. Today I spent it with my 13-year-old grandson Caelin. He and I spent the first
part of the morning preparing our breakfast; we had deer sausage with cheese and jalapeno peppers. Ginger had quite a large mass to cleanup in the kitchen when we finished. At the service station Caelin and I visited with Joe Madair who told us that he was headed to Shreveport and that because of a large kidney stone it appeared that they would have to remove one of his kidneys. I asked Caelin to lay hands on him and pray for him. He prayed that this wouldn't happen. Later today I called Joe to find out the results of the testing. They found that he had six small kidney stones and that is kidneys were not in danger. They sent him home to pass them. I received a phone call this afternoon from Randy Causey who had good
news that he wanted to share. Back in September of last year one of his hunting buddy’s wife had died; his friend asked him to be a pallbearer. Today that friend called him and told him that he had experienced a tremendous salvation experience with the Lord. Randy's relationship and friendship with him brought him into an eternal relationship with his maker, Jesus Christ. Monday, October 23, 2017:
As was my brother’s routine sometime around early fall 2010, Mike Clark and Gary Lively were running their Saturday morning Thrift Store furniture pickup route. While crossing the Ouachita River bridge they noticed a man in pajamas staring down at the river. The details of whether they stopped as they approached or turned around, I don't know; however, what I do know is they seized upon a moment of opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Luke 10:29-33 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. Before that day's end the man my brothers 'talked off the ledge' received clothes to wear, food to eat and a safe harbor of refuge in which to lodge! James 2:15-17 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Invitations extended to our rescued brother to join fellowship gatherings were accepted and attended. Work opportunities to earn income were acted upon. Conversations interwoven with Truth evidenced time in God's Word. All taken together appeared reflective of genuine sincerity on the part of our new acquaintance. How do we discern whether we're giving a hand up or a hand out? How does one ferret out grace to help from enabling an unhealthy lifestyle? Matthew 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? As patterns of behavior remained consistent, our relationships grew and bonds of trust strengthened over time. Then sometime in 2011 the consequences of our new Brother's past choices required of him a sentence of correctional detention. During a period of 4-1/2 years we maintained contact by writing and periodic visits. We witnessed an inner turmoil transform to an inner joy during our visits as our incarcerated Brother shared of his involvement with the prison chapel music ministry, the prison band, the carpenter shop, ministering to fellow inmates and being assigned the role of trustee. A distinct memory as one of our visits were drawing to a close, when we asked how we could pray for him, he turned that discussion into praying for us! A year prior to his calculated release date, we began pooling our resources for financial assistance to transition back into independence. On October 21, 2016 I watched our Brother step out of a prison van, being dropped off at Conway hospital wearing ankle and wrist chains, with a tee shirt, jeans and worn out sneakers. Over the past year he caught bus routes and arranged rides to get to work until he was able to purchase a bicycle that he rode to work until he worked through multiple layers of obstacles to get his driver’s license, vehicle registration, insurance, etc to now be driving his own car! We celebrated our Brother's one-year release date anniversary together with him 10/21/17 at Logan's Steak House. During our conversation he related to us the below passage and how we lived out the truth of Christ's words: Matthew 25:34-36 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ If you haven't yet guessed, the man that our Brothers Gary and Mike had compassion on in a moment of life changing significance seven years ago is Jonathan Willink. The Significance of a Moment indeed! (See Attachment) Sunday, October 22, 2017:
“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) Tony’s truck broke down on him, and he found that the cost to fix it was $1500. In the meanwhile, Tony’s roommate had a vehicle that was running and offered to sell it to him for $1500. Being short on funds, Tony prayed for God’s provision. As a result, some unexpected things suddenly happened. Tony had an increase from the Veterans Administration, and this difference in back pay will cover the cost to fix his truck. Better than that, both vehicles will be paid for by the end of the year. Today, Tony shares of God’s goodness and provision. When running into Tony at the local coffee shop, he was sharing this testimony to a nonbeliever. Tony gives thanks to the Lord for His provision, and I give thanks for Tony! In Christ, Andy Magee |
