Iran, Jason and I prayed as laborers to the Lord of the harvest on our drive to a nearby trailer Park. The second door we knocked on was answered by a lady, Brenda who said that two years ago this month her sister died in a house fire on the same lot, and one year ago this month she was released from rehab after 35 years of drug addiction. She made mention that we happened to show up on the anniversary month of those instances. As she began
opening up to harbored anger, unforgiveness and broken relationships with her daughter and grandchildren a woman and a man drove up. Then a man from inside the house with an amputee leg came out. During the time we spent together with the four people, Brenda, Jimmy, Ray, Kathy and Rusty would make mention of appreciation that we came. Cathy's behavior gave me the impression she was under the influence of some drug. God's grace was present during this encounter with people who wore the signs of life battles-dirt balls neck creases, ragged scars, profane language-not derogatory, but just normal to their vernacular, dirty clothes with holes. It felt refreshing that they would share with us. "When I hear Baptist, I think hypocrite, but y'all aren't like that." After we prayed with them;
Brenda mentioned that Christians are supposed to reach out to others; thanking us again for visiting them. We invited them to CR; then leaving with a presence of peace of the Holy Spirit. How exciting it is to join God in the adventure of his kingdom come!
