On my almost daily visit and stay at the local coffee shop, I have had the opportunity to meet with many people. One afternoon, a young lady came to talk with me. She began sharing how she believed that there was a guy wanting to go out with her for one reason only. I suggested that he may not be the guy for her. The conversation went from this to her recent breakup with a guy she has been living with for the past eight months to discussion of her previous marriage and divorce of three years. This lady is only 22 years old. I sensed that this lady is searching for love and fulfillment. I also began to sense that she was heartbroken over her recent live-in- boy- friend; I asked her if I could pray for her. She eagerly agreed, and I watched tears roll down her cheeks as I sensed the Holy Spirit’s love and presence.
As a born-again believer, I have found that accepting and loving people wherever they may be in life is what made Jesus so attractive to the lost, and this type of love tends to transcend the paradigms of a religious mindset. Remember that our Lord was not hated by the prostitutes, tax collectors, and wine bibbers, but rather, it was the very ones who claimed to be God’s chosen people who were angered by Him and wanted to see Him killed. This lady did not need me to tell her of her sin issues……she already knew what they were. The greater issues dealt with the need to encounter Christ and His love for her. This type of encounter and experience changes lives forever.
