Honduras Notes & Itinerary 2016
Purpose of Mission: [1] Sharing the Gospel with 300 kids in three different settings [2] Fact Finding and getting the Spirit's leading on founding a possible orphanage & school in one of the villages.
Date for Mission: March 14-20, Monday to Sunday Rough Itinerary:
Day 1 (14) -- Fly from XNA to San Pedro Sula, Honduras on United Airlines FL 1487 from Houston TX and spend night at hotel near the airport. [Aparthotel Villa Nuria Prolongation 27 Street, Entry Col. Felipe Zelaya, San Pedro Sula, Cortes, Honduras, 866-573-4235]
Day 2 (15) -- Breakfast and leave early for Concepcion del Sur, village of the Munoz family. Kid’s Ministry (about 100 children) Ken sharing the Gospel using Faith Bears. Also distribution of Gospel wrist bands, food, clothes & shoes. Lunch in the village and afternoon spent getting to know the Munoz family and their vision and plans for the orphanage. Spend the night with them in the village.
Day 3 (16) -- Breakfast and leave for San Jose de Pane, about 30 miles south, to the orphanage and school supported by XMA. Morning in the village getting to know the couple running the orphanage & school, and gleaning their counsel and experiences having been in operation for 3 years. Lunch prepared by Jennifer Hernandez and afternoon Kid’s Ministry with Ken sharing the Gospel with 100 kids again using the Faith Bears. Overnight back in Concepcion with the Munoz family.
Day 4 (17) -- Drive back to San Pedro Sula (2 hours) and settle into our same hotel for the evening. Tour of the city, a nearby scenic and unusual church in the mountains, and the mission HQ and storage facilities. Free time to ponder, journal, or relax.
Day 5 (18) -- Recreation, rest, and reflection day. Four hour drive to Copan, perhaps the most famous Mayan ruin and the most famous tourist site in Honduras. Check in our hotel, ($15/night!:)) make our way to the ruin, get a guide and take the tour as a group. Return to the city for dinner and our hotel for the night.
Day 6 (19) -- Rise early for breakfast, followed by a 30 minute horse back ride to the “Painted Village”, an intact Mayan village with colorful homes and traditional dress. Play with the children, have a gospel presentation and give away Faith Bears. :) Return to the hotel, check out and head back to San Pedro Sula. Eat dinner en route or in town, and check into our same San Pedro hotel again for the night.
Day 7 (20)-- Fly home to the States, full of memories and ideas, and pondering what the Lord did, and will do with this experience in the days to come. :)
Thank you so much for your prayer support each day we are there, or when the Lord brings us to your mind. We know prayer is so important to His moving and blessing our time there and the people He wants to touch with His love and grace.
