he came out with 1/2 truck load of firewood. As he was unloading, every other word
was a curse word. I did not react; after unloading the wood, he asked if I knew of anyone
else that can use firewood? He asked about Paul Frost a next-door neighbor. I was
bold enough to tell Herschel that if he wanted to be successful in relating to people, many
were Christians and did not appreciate his cursing.
Moving forward to today he brought another 1/2 truck load of fire wood; since his first
visit he has restrained himself from cursing. He is a very talkative man and we discussed
different health issues; earlier this year he had a stent put in his heart, he is 57 years old.
As he was about to leave he said. "Are you a preacher?" I told him that I pastored
men. He said, "Would you pray for me?" He has carpal tonal syndrome and numbness
in his arms. I prayed for him, commanding his arm to be made whole. He thanked me
three times for praying for him and as he was about to drive off he said, "If you need
any help around here," call me." My initial thought is, the Lord has placed him in front
of me and I need to reach out to him as a friend. I am remembering of Jesus' encounter
with Peter as he was cursing in his boat; now Herschel is in a pick-up! Lord you know!
