to the mission house was a young man by the name of Bernardo (Rene).
Bernardo was a practicing Muslim who had spent eight years in Oregon. While
there his girlfriend had a baby girl. Bernardo was an illegal alien, this caught up
with him and he went to prison; he was sent back to Honduras and became a
prisoner there. Bernardo was released from prison a short time before our coming
on the mission trip in January 2014. Bernardo's mother, a member of Dorio's
Church wanted him to be our interpreter; he agreed. Our first outreach was in the
prison in downtown Olanchito. We were testing the eyes of the prisoners, fitting
them with glasses and then they were sent to me for prayer. As I prayed for
around 30 prisoners I would have them confessing Jesus Christ as Lord, his blood
that covers their sins and His resurrection. I was putting faith inside each one.
After praying I sensed the Holy Spirit wanted me to prophesy over each of the
prisoners so I did. So, in reality it was Bernardo who was doing the praying and
the prophesying to these prisoners. As he did this, he said a burning was going
off in his soul, the conviction of the Holy Spirit. He continued being the interpreter
for the Pastors Conference. A few days later he publicly confessed Jesus Christ
as his Lord. He has joined the ministry with Dorio and has a desire to go to Bible
College. What a blessing this was for me to see the power of the gospel working
in a man's life. Bernardo said that I had given him a shirt when I left in 2012; he
is keeping it as a memorial of his salvation.
