There was a family reunion in Winnsboro; Neil’s Powers' cousin related this story
to the family. The cousins name is Raymond who was a Baptist much older than
Neil. Raymond leads singing at different churches. He woke up one morning and
could not hear out of his right ear so he made and appointment with a doctor and
the doctor told him that his hearing was dead. At first, he thought that he would
need a hearing aid and became unhappy about that. Then the doctor said you
don’t understand, a hearing aid will not help, your hearing is dead. He had a
condition where the hearing never comes back and if it does it is very little.
When he got back home he called everyone that he knew that could touch God
to pray.
Then he got invited to go to a singing at an Assembly of God Church. There he
sang a song about Jesus being a miracle worker. After he had sung the song the
pastor called him back up for prayer because he knew that he had developed this
problem. He went back to his seat and as the pastor was preaching he thought
he was able to hear out of the ear, but he was unsure. It may have been the
speaker system had been turned up. When they began to play the piano softly at
the end of the service he knew that he was starting to hear out of that ear. He
went back to the doctor to have it checked out and he had 40% hearing in that ear.
Two or three weeks later he went back to the doctor and his hearing had increased
and it was up to 70%. Later he went back and it was up to 80% and is praying that
it will go to 100%. This was a blessing to the whole family and was a conformation
for Neil and Mei in talking about miracles.
