Saturday July 19, 2014: This Morning I attended the funeral of Jerry Futch; there was a big turnout at First West. While there I noticed that I received a call from Steve Gillory of Oberlin, Louisiana which I was not able to take. As I was leaving the church he called again and said that he was passing through Monroe and wanted to visit me. Steve has just retired and took a 12-day trip to hike on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. He had stopped by to see Chris Hyatt, Curtis Foreman, John Duke, and then up to Virginia to see Jim McNally. As we visited the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask Steve if he had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. He said many years ago he had woken up singing in the spirit, but nothing much since then. I stressed the importance of stirring up this gift in him and read him the Scriptures of its benefit. As he went into his retirement, he needed to exercise this gift to opening closed doors for him. I ministered Holy Spirit to him and he spoke a few words; Steve is a timid sort of fellow. I told him when he got in his truck and headed home that it would be a good time to give himself to the Holy Spirit. I told him when he had received a good flow in tongues to give me a call. Within 5 minutes he called and said that he had liberty to pray in the spirit. Praise the Lord!
