Saturday, May 16, 2015: I arrived early for my 9 AM flight to Monroe and set by a large black man, he had spent the night in the terminal. His name is Felix Taylor from San Diego, California. He was raised in Marion, Louisiana; his father is a preacher and now drives a school bus. He himself works with troubled young black boys there in San Diego. We talked honestly about the problems here in America and the lack of fatherhood. He talked honestly about race relationships and the problems in the black community. He indicated that integration had not been a good thing because black children do not respect the white teachers. Forced integration has brought many problems. He talked about the introduction of cocaine into America; it has destroyed the black man. Everyone uses it; he blamed Ronald Ragin. I talked to him about the difference between racial prejudice and also racial pride. Each race has its strong points which are derived from family, this causes of pride within that race, this was not a bad thing. But racial prejudice is a bad thing
I asked Felix what he felt like the answer was and how to get there? We concluded that the new birth in Jesus Christ was the beginning place and that men need to be discipled and become the heads of their family. Felix and I held hands and I asked him to pray, and he did while we were sitting in the airport with all the other passengers.
I began to talk to him about discipling man and what this should look like with Jesus Christ as our pattern. He understood what I was talking about. I told him that I had tried to disciple black men before with very little result. He stuck out his hand and said, "Try me." We exchanged information, email address and phone numbers.
When we arrived in Monroe he was met by his cousin and his cousin's girlfriend. He wanted to serve me and make sure that I got the van okay. His cousin carried my suitcase and when we got to my van; we joined hands and I prayed for Felix again. I don't know where this will go because he lives in San Diego. I leave on Wednesday for California but he wants to have lunch with me before I leave.
