taken place in the last several weeks relates to our Brother Tim Smith. For
several years now; Tim has been active in Celebrate Recovery at First Baptist
Church in West Monroe. And because of the lack of leadership he is being
recognized as the leader. They have asked him to take this position. In talking
to me about this, he said, he didn't want to take this position without the church
knowing his stance on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy
Spirit with tongues. I said to him that they might not accept you as the leader
if they know all this. But it was something that God had put in his heart to do.
He had a meeting with around 12 of the celebrate recovery members and told
them of his experience. They had several questions but still wanted him to
be the leader. Dwight Munn, the pastor over celebrate recovery was not at
this meeting so, Tim went to see him personally in his office and told him of
his experience. Dwight said that he would have to speak to the executive
pastor before he could give him a decision. Later Dwight met with him and a
granted to him the leadership position providing that he would not promote
the baptism of Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues at those meetings. He
would be free to do so off-campus. To me this is a milestone decision. Dr.
Utley who is the interim pastor at this present time spoke from the pulpit that
he believed in speaking in tongues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. So, they
could hardly do otherwise.
