news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and
recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year
of the Lord’s favor.”
Years ago, I got news of a childhood friend that I grew up with having an incurable
blood disease and was on his death bed in the hospital. Burdened by his plight,
I prayed for him and remembered our common childhood experiences. I felt an
unusual presence of the Holy Spirit surround me and was led to Luke 14 where
Jesus read from the scroll of Isaiah and proclaimed liberty to the captives.
After being convinced that I was to visit my friend and read him this scripture I went
to see him. He was alone in his room. After a brief visit, I read him the scripture
and told him to expect the Lord to do something and left. Three days later, I learned
that he made a miraculous recovery and was released.
Praise God for His Mercy.
