I hear from time to time about random acts of kindness performed by Christians
in our community. During the Christmas Season a group of Christians went to
a restaurant and blessed the waitress with a lavish tip (several hundred dollars).
A young man released from prison, given transportation, a place to live, job
opportunity, funds to buy food and provisions, fellowship, wise counsel, prayer
and encouragement. Visits to prisons, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. to encourage
and pray for lonely and hurting people. The world is full of people in desperate
need of God’s kindness. We are laborers in His vineyard. Our random acts of
kindness bring God’s light into darkness. They do not seem to catch the news
headlines and perhaps that’s the way God wants it (Matt. 6: 3-4), but I’m glad
they are taking place.
