Our Brother Jerry Linhaires and I had traveled to Suwanee, George to celebrate the life of our pastor Bro. John Duke. We wanted to be there for his wife Ellen and the family. What a joyous occasion it was. In the midst of this tremendous loss, I don’t remember a single tear. As a host of believers gathered from many places it was a time of celebration, full of Joy. Bro. Charles Simpson gave the message which included over 50 years of walking together with John in the Lord.
What a great heritage we have in our Lord Jesus Christ as we have allowed the power of
the Holy Spirit to guide us as brothers for at least 55 years. I first met Bro. John and Bro. Charles on Wednesday, January 18, 1967 at Claiborne Baptist Church; it was the day my son David was born. Wow! What a journey we have had together, it has been remarkable. It has been a journey of spiritual wisdom and insight that few in the world have experienced. We have been blessed beyond measure. There is a mystery that we all need to know, but the blessing is not in the knowing but in the doing. This mystery is honoring our source of life. This is important in God’s economy, close to His heart. It is a well spring of blessings. We honor our Lord Jesus who is the source of all life and we also honor the source of our natural as well as our spiritual life. I am Blessed to have known John Duke who calls me his friend.
