My name is Abby, and I would like to tell you a testimony that happened while doing ministry training in Birmingham, Alabama. My group consisting of five people met one family from New Hampshire, and we decided that we would have supper together. We left our hotel and traveled to a downtown BBQ restaurant in search of food, but mainly anyone we could share Jesus with.
After eating, we asked the manager of the restaurant if a group member of ours, Hannah, could play her guitar and sing for the customers. He agreed and turned down the house music for us. As she began to play, we began to pray for the Holy Spirit to be welcome there and for open opportunities. After about that first song my eyes were immediately drawn to a table consisting of three women. God was speaking and telling me to go the table. Little did I know God was telling Julie, the mother of the other family, the same thing? We were both fighting with God about doing this. Julie went to the table and I shortly followed. Julie began telling the ladies that God had spoken and told her that someone at this table needed prayer. One of the girls named Meagan began to cry and told us that her dear friend Katie had been in a very horrific car wreck. Katie had been a coma for a week in very critical condition. The doctors had to do emergency surgery on her brain because the bleed in her brain was so severe it was going to kill her. They also told family and friends they didn’t know when she would wake up and it was very possible, she may never wake up. We gladly agreed to go to the hospital to pray over Katie.
Before leaving the table, one of the girls seemed to be very uneasy. God gave me a prophetic word and vision for her life. I asked her name and as I began to share what God had showed me for her life, which was Him wanted to use her with her voice and art from her hands to bring glory to Him, and how much he loved her and wanted to make her successful in this. The girls started looking at each other almost in disbelief saying, “Wow, she sings.” I said I know ha ha, but it’s also with her hands and Meagan tells me she is a cosmetologist. I truly believe God poured out His love and power over that young woman that night. We were able to pray with them and head out to the hospital.
So here I am in downtown Birmingham. I left my group and I am in this vehicle with this family from New Hampshire I really don’t know at all. I just know that they are my brother and sisters in Christ, and we are doing the works of God. We got lost a couple of times trying to find our way, but we are constantly praying for people we are passing by on the streets, in the elevators, and waiting rooms. We made our way to the ICU and the nurse is telling us that it is not visitation hours and questioning why were we there if we weren’t family. I knew God would provide a way. The nurse finally gives us 5 minutes in the room. Hey, that’s all we needed!
Entering into Katie’s room was very hard. She was in very bad shape. Venation tubes, feeding tubes, IV’s everywhere, half of Katie’s head was shaved and had staples going all the way across. She appeared to look nothing like the photo we had seen of her earlier, but our faith in God was much greater than Katie’s injuries. We surrounded her bed and began welcoming the Holy Spirit into the room. We started laying our hands-on Katie and demanding healing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! As we proclaimed repairing of the damaged organs and the awakening of nerves and brain waves, Katie’s body began to flinch. Although Katie did not wake up, we knew she would, it just wasn’t her time yet. When we were done, we got close to Katie and told her how much Jesus loved her, how precious she was. Before we left the hospital, we were able to go back to the very nurse that didn’t really want to let us in and asked her could we pray for her and was she in any physical pain. She agreed to let us pray and told us she had pain in her back. I asked if I could come around the counter and lay my hands on her, she agreed to this as well. She was healed from her back pain that night.
The next day, back at the ministry seminar I ran into the family from New Hampshire. Julie shows me a Go Fund Me page that Meagan, Katies friend, had posted. It had the story from the prior night and how much it moved them. It had a picture of us and it said, "Katie’s personal prayer team." I was so excited to know that God had used us to show them Gods love. Julie went and brought a worship CD from the seminar and we laid our hands and prayed over it. Meagan came and got the CD to play in Katie’s hospital room. We had to part ways that morning and go back home. That evening as I walked in the door of my home, I received news of how big our God is! KATIE WOKE UP!!!! This was almost exactly 24 hrs. after leaving the hospital. Not only that, but she was able to follow some simple commands given to her and is continuing to heal! God's love and power is so overwhelming! He is here and HE IS ALIVE!!!
