“for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink;
I was a stranger and you took Me in;36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was
sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” (Matthew 25:35-36
Once when leading a team to minister and feed the homeless, we came up on a
homeless woman at the base of a bridge with a broken leg. She was with two
of her peers and slipped on a rock while trying to cross a small creek. Instead
of helping her, her peers robbed her and left her there to die. We came upon
her a couple of hours after her accident and realized the seriousness of it when
we saw her leg bone protruding from the break. When asked, we told her who
we were and why we were there. We also fed her, gave her something to drink,
and prayed for her. After calling 911, medical personnel finally arrived, and it
literally took all of us to carry her out of the bottom to the ambulance. When
later pondering this incident, and wondering where our Lord was in the midst of
it all, the scripture above spoke clearly to me. I realized that our visit with this
lady was more than just what was needed for her, it was a divine, eternal
encounter. #Grateful2beUsed
