One afternoon, I was running around a track, and off to a slight distance there was a
young man playing basketball with a younger boy. While watching them, I felt a strong
drawing and burden to pray for the young man. Not knowing how to pray for him, I began
to pray anyway. I prayed for him, his salvation, whatever may be going on in his life….I
prayed for God’s intervention. Every time I made a lap around the track and he came into
full view, I would pray. At the end of my run, I went to cool down on a sit-up bench. While
resting there, the sun was directly overhead and blaring down. With my eyes closed, I
could see the red of the sun through my eyelids and then the sun became blocked. I
opened my eyes, and it was the young man standing in front of me. The first thing he
said was, “You are a preacher, aren’t you?” I told him, “I am a minister of the Lord Jesus
Christ, why do you ask?” Immediately, I concluded that this man never met me nor heard
me speak. I also observed his pentagram necklace and dark clothing. We began to have
conversation, and through it I was able to share the good news of Jesus Christ and His love
for him. When the conversation ended and as he was walking away, I stopped him and said
“Hey, if there was ever one thing I hope that could be carried out of our conversation, I want
to encourage you to know that there is hope.” Looking back at me, he responded, “Yeah…I
hope so.” I never saw him again; nonetheless, I knew this day that this mission was complete.
In Christ,
