“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an
appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
(2 Cor 5:20)
I recently was asked by a lady to pray for her mom who was in poor health
and in a wheelchair. In discussion with the mom, I quickly picked up on her
Catholicism faith, and I also picked up a faint impression that this woman’s
condition was correlated with her unforgiveness towards someone. The Lord’s
Prayer then came to mind, and I thought that this would be a mutual opening
to (1) share something that she could relate to and (2) open the door for the
entry of God’s Word and ministry. When reciting the Lord’s Prayer with her, I
stopped at the part where it says, “and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us.” When asking her if she might be harboring
any unforgiveness, she said yes…towards her ex-husband, and angrily said,
“and I will NEVER forgive him!!” It was at this point that I shared with her about
what God’s Word said about unforgiveness, and I appealed to her to be
reconciled to God by forgiving those who trespass against us. She again said,
“I will never forgive him.” A month later, I received a text through a mutual friend.
In the text, it said, “Miss Mary wanted me to let you know that she has finally
forgiven!” This text message made my day….Praise God!
In Christ,
