which can be very unscrupulous, they go to poor families in Vietnam and offer parents a sum of $$ to purchase their daughters to becomes wives of foreign men. Because of living in poverty, they see this is a way to escape and
have a better life in Malaysia.
When these ladies got to Malaysia, they soon found that they had been lied to by the agency and that things would
be much worse for them here. They were brought to a location and paraded in front of men so that the men could
choose which one they would like to buy to be their wife. Once they were married, the husband or husband’s family
took their passport so that they had no way to leave or go back home. Now these women are now stuck in
horrible living conditions, with crazy, old, mental unbalanced husbands who threaten and abuse them,
I met these ladies 10 years ago, when I was a missionary in Malaysia and had an opportunity to help them and shared
the Gospel with them. About 15 of them accepted Christ. I would go to their village each week for Bible study and
worship. I got to know these Vietnamese wives and their hopeless, painful lives. They were living in slavery. Some of
them would beg me to help them to escape, but I couldn't help them without a passport. One girl’s husband got so
angry that he threatened to kill me and even went to the church where we met and told the pastor he would burn the
church down if the pastor didn't give me to him. My heart was always heavy and in tears each week as I came to teach
them the words of God and the hope from Him for 3 yrs. When I left Malaysia, these women are those who are heavy
on my heart and I praying for.
After 6 years, I was able to return to Malaysia again recently. Sadly, one sister had committed suicide, two ran away
for their husband no job and severely abused them, three others had been able to return home for their husbands had
died. However, during all this, I was so happy to hear that our God has not abandoned them. Two of them have been
faithfully crying out to God and finally He answered their prayers; One of the husband of these two used to be the
head of a terrible gang and a drug dealer, has become a believer and his life is totally different. The other sisters husband
would not allow her to go to church or bible studies. I had to go to her house after our bible studies and ministered to her.
This time as I was there visiting she came and had so much joy and hope. I was surprise; she memorized the bible
verses and I found out that she has been searching and to listening to the word of God through internet. She is on fired
for the Lord.
These ladies were the seed that I never thought would grow. I thought they were accepting Christ because they need
my help and support. I didn't see much interested in the words, plus when I left, nobody took over my work because no-
one can speak their language. God has showed me that even though I wasn't there, God is still there for them. and He
is their Heavenly Father. It is His work and ministry and He would do it His own way to meet their needs.
Please continue to pray for them and pray that God will stop this corruption business.
