“In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book,
And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.”Isaiah 19: 18
An elderly man named Garland visited our nursing home ministry for the first time. AnnaMarie sat with him and realized that he could not hear. In order to communicate, she had to yell two inches from his ear. After the bible teaching, Garland yelled, “I didn’t hear a word she said!” This was a funny moment because everyone heard him. Afterwards, there was worship and something mysterious took place. Garland, with a stunned expression, said, “I heard that! I hear the piano playing!” AnnaMarie gestured to him that he was too loud and gently told him to tone it down; however, he looked at her and said, “No! I heard the piano…I can hear the piano!” Not yet crossing AnnaMarie’s mind that a miracle occurred, she later wheeled Garland back to his room, and after arriving he told his roommate, “I can hear! I could hear the music!” About a month later, AnnaMarie went to visit Garland and she asked him, “Can you hear me?” Garland snappily responded, “Yes I can hear you.” Garland has since gone to be with our Lord.
