During this time, a good friend here in Redding, CA was admitted to the hospital. I visited him in the ER as he as being admitted to a room in the hospital. As we proceed down the corridor of the hospital ward, we were barraged with yells and cries from patients in adjoining room. Upon arriving at his room, there was chaos as his roommate had ripped out his IV and was being belligerent as blood painted the floor and he paced the room. I felt that God was moving me to speak to the head nurse due to my friend's issues with anxiety disorders. After a time of negotiations, they were able to put him in a private room. I was able to leave him in a much better situation and with a word of prayer for peace.
His mother, who is not a Christian, declared to me, "He loves you. He trusts you. Would you be willing to work with him as a counselor?" And thus, last night I began my first 'counseling session' with this young man at the request of his 'non-Christian' mother and upon the direction of God to walk in obedience to Him. We have a long way to go, but this young man is valued by God and certainly has hope in Christ.
Oh, and by the way, this morning at 5 am, I was contacted by a long lost member of our youth group from our time in Taiwan. He is at the end of himself after a life of drugs. He wants help... Here we go!! Lord, only you can do it!!! It is exciting to be in His Harness!!
Blessings,
David
