So, the last day we ministered while attending the conference involved us going to eat lunch at Alabama Birmingham Campus. This was a faith builder. I asked a hotel employee where we could go and eat yet have a high volume of population to encounter. Her advice was to go to the University. All 7 of us walked in to the cafeteria of a college campus as complete strangers. We sat down and ate with many eyes on us wondering who we were. We proceeded to walk out onto the campus after we ate. We took about 10 minutes to settle into a plan. Hannah sat down to sing near a water fountain and then moved closer to the courtyard area near some Muslim students. Hannah sang for about 15 minutes before it seemed that anything was happening.
Neil Powers walked up to me after I had a failed attempt of trying to minister to a Kid named “Skateboard George”. We later found out that was how other students referred to him on campus. George was very difficult to engage with. He was easy to listen to but very hard to ever get any words in the conversation. It was at this point a strong wind blew over the campus and begin to blow the water fountain waters outside of the fountain area splashing water onto the concrete. Neil and I prayed together that the Lord would begin ushering in His wind of Revival over this campus. After we prayed pretty soon after, Skateboard George walks back over. Neil noticed a group of students praying together about 30 ft. away. After they prayed, we invited them over and found out they were part of a campus ministry. Whit and Neil had just finished praying for campus ministers and now they were standing in front of us so Mike Clark, Neil Powers and Jonathan Tucker prayed for these students. After they prayed with these students, I’m getting close to leading Skateboard George to receive Christ as Lord.
Jonathan Tucker then walks across the campus for about 100 yards to go and retrieve some of the students that they had just prayed with to come and meet Skateboard George. So as soon as we were praying with George to receive Christ a host of students converge to welcome George into their fellowship. The group of students gathered around George and prayed for him. George still has many questions and I can assure you we need to pray for these campus ministry students to have Extra PATIENCE and COMPASSION for George Pockets of prayer was breaking out on the campus as we were leaving. Even after Hannah finished singing, she noticed someone with a frozen popsicle of Outstanding taste. One of the girl students offered Hannah a free Popsicle and so we all converged toward the popsicle stand and more prayer broke out for the popsicle stand worker as well as for the young lady who walked us over.
